It should come as no surprise that HBO Max has decided to push forward with a second season of Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That… so we regret to inform you that it looks like there is more Che Diaz in your future.
“I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters — played by these powerful, amazing actors,” said showrunner Michael Patrick King in a statement. “The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And Just like That… our Sex life is back.”
Hopefully, King is hinting at a second season that includes less aggressive, grunty teenage sex between Miranda’s son and his girlfriend, and more of the saucy escapades we loved the original series for. And, hopefully, he was also hinting at some sweet shots of Franklyn sans attire because, let’s be blunt, that man is fine.

Following the finale of the first season of the reboot, King told The Hollywood Reporter that he wanted to know more about the new characters in the series and that “we have no answers, but we have a lot of questions.”
King’s comments echo those of many viewers who felt that the new additions to the cast, Sarita Chowdhury as Seema, Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa and Karen Pittman as Nya, got the short end of the stick in terms of character development. The show, which was once criticised for featuring no diversity at all, was this time around for including diverse yet one-dimensional characters who were there purely as foils for the leads.
Said HBO Max head of original content Sarah Aubrey in a statement, “We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much.
“We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season two.”
The full cast for And Just Like That season two has not yet been confirmed, but it is suspected everyone from the first season will return. One notable exception, of course, will be Chris Noth who was not only killed off in the first episode but then faced allegations of sexual assault from multiple women ahead of the show’s premiere. He was due to appear in a dream sequence in the final episode, but it was cut in the wake of the accusations.
Tragically, Willie Garson passed away during the filming of the first season, meaning that this character, Stanford, had to be quickly written out too.
It remains to be seen if Kim Cattrall will change her tune about appearing in the reboot, but is probably unlikely given that she has been vocal about what a terrible time she had the first time around. The actress is also part of the cast of How I Met Your Father, which has already been renewed for a second season.
So, it looks like the iPhone that has stepped into Cattral’s sky-high red bottoms can look forward to a few more weeks of work.
The first season of And Just Like That is now streaming on BINGE and you can check out all of our coverage of the series, here.
