It’s been a big year for reality TV shows, and 2023 is looking to be even more spectacular.
We’ve had a number of new competition reality programs pop up, from The Traitors to Hunted, but now, it’s time to go back to what’s tried and true: Australian Survivor.
And the time has finally come. The upcoming season’s premise is Heroes Vs Villains is just around the corner, premiering January 30th at 7.30pm. The theme comes from the US’ Survivor, which did Heroes Vs Villains back in Season 20. To this day, it remains one of the show’s most popular seasons.
Longtime host, Jonathan LaPaglia, as well as cast members Hayley Leake and George Mladenov, who both starred in Australian Survivor: Brains Vs Brawn are set to return. Leake won the series, with Mladenov coming in second.

“In every superhero movie I’ve ever seen, the hero wins!” Leake says in the trailer.
“What makes some one a villain in this game is killer instinct,” Mladenov counters.
“When it comes to Survivor, you can play any way you like,” LaPaglia says. “The question is, who does it better? A hero? Or a villain?”
The trailer is set to the familiar beat of Queen’s “We Will Rock You”, as Heroes Vs Villains cast members, both new and returning, are given the spotlight.
Some of the Survivors featured are past competitors Shonee Fairfax and Shaun Hampson, as well as newcomers Rogue Rubin, Fraser Lack, and Anjali Rao.
We also get glimpses of returning players Flick Palmateer, who competed against Leake and Mladenov in Brains Vs Brawn, and Nina Twine, who was forced to withdraw from the Blood Vs Water season after fracturing her ankle during a reward challenge.
Twine’s return to the series is one that was heavily speculated by fans of the show, and is hotly anticipated. The daughter of Survivor royalty Sandra Diaz-Twine (who actually won Heroes Vs Villains back in 2010), prior to her injury, many considered her a frontrunner to win Blood Vs Water.
Will Twine follow in her mother’s footsteps and take home the title of Sole Survivor, though? We’ll have to wait and see.
When Does Australian Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains Start?
Network Ten has finally confirmed that Australian Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains will kick off on Monday, January 30th at 7.30pm.
Where Was Australian Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains Filmed?
The 2023 season of Australian Survivor marks the return of filming overseas, after COVID saw Australian Survivor: Brains Vs Brawn and Australian Survivor: Blood Vs Water filmed in Queensland.
Australian Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains sees the series return to Samoa, where Season 1 was filmed back in 2016.

Australian Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains will be airing on 10 and 10 Play on Demand. While we don’t have the details yet about when and where you can tune in, check back soon, and we’ll update this post as soon as we know more.
