Even before I moved into my first-ever solo place, I was a big fan of interiors. I realised the strong effect they had on me — a cluttered space made me feel agitated and anxious, while a clean, airy room made me feel calm and energised — and I became obsessed.
Then, when I had my own proper place to decorate, which happened to coincide with a job where I found myself writing about interiors regularly, I became — well, whatever the level above obsessed is.
But why am I telling you all this? I’m sharing it because I’ve taken it upon myself to scavenge my interiors-obsessed brain, as well as Google, to put together a list of best Australian designer homewares brands.

From the much-loved In The Roundhouse, which started with dinner plates illustrated with seafood illustrations and Italian expressions and has since expanded to placemats, coffee cups and coasters, to Jones & Co, known for its handmade ceramics that aim to make spaces happier places, these are just a few Australian designer homewares brands you might already know or may’ve never heard of, but are my personal favourites.
Jones & Co
Every Jones & Co piece, including vases, planters and wall art, is designed and made by hand to last a lifetime. A single mug by the brand might have over 1,000 hand-painted spots, blotches or stripes.

Saardé
Saardé is a Sydney-based brand online homewares brand run by Verity and Shenol Kizek. They started the company in 2018 with the desire to bring aesthetics from a simple Mediterranean lifestyle Down Under. Today, the brand offers goods for each part of the home, celebrating the artisanal skills of makers from around the world.
My pick to shop? Sefer Jute Runner, $199
Fenton & Fenton
Operating since 2008, Fenton & Fenton is a Melbourne-based homewares, furniture and art brand by interiors fanatic Lucy Fenton. The brand has a showroom and gallery in Victoria’s Prahan, and, for everyone else who can’t get to Melbourne, an online store where you can shop everything from bed heads and coffee tables, to mirrors, and sculptures. Easily sort items by rooms in the home, price ranges, colours, and materials.
My pick to shop? Champagne Flutes in Peach, $84 (on sale from $120)
Koala
Best known for its mattress-in-a-box, in 2022, Koala branched out into homewares. Today, its range includes cushions, throws and rugs, with everything made from premium, responsible materials and many pieces inspired by Australian landscapes.
My pick to shop? Bush Walk Cushion, $53.40 (on sale from $89)
In The Roundhouse
Launched in late 2021 by two friends Alyce Tran, co-founder of The Daily Edited, and Brooke Bickmore, editor of David Jones Magazine, In The Roundhouse has since become one of Australia’s most recognisable homewares brands. It’s best known for its colourful dinner plates plastered with Italian expressions “La Dolce Vita” and “Grazie Mille”, as well as its tableware with seafood illustrated by Australian artist Daimon Downey.
My pick to shop? Large Grazie Mille Plate, $35
No. 22
No. 22 was borne from the idea that beautiful homewares shouldn’t have to cost a small fortune. Today, the brand stocks dinner plates, cocktail glasses, and napkins, among other things. Its latest collection, Capri, features blue, white and yellow designs, instantly transporting you to the Italian island. You can only shop No. 22 online, though the brand did hold a Sydney pop-up store during the holiday season.

Mocka
Started in 2007, Mocka is an Australian-based brand known for its affordable yet well-made homewares and furniture. On the homewares front, expect cushions, rugs, mirrors, and even room dividers. Many of the products have detailed user reviews which are helpful to read before you buy.
My pick to shop? Omari Metal Pond Shaped Mirror, $129.95
Merci Maison
Interior designers Jade Yarbrough and Danielle Robertson are behind Merci Maison. The brand is a meeting point for elegant and innovative design and is big on sustainability, always respectful of the natural resources it uses for its pieces.
