Travel writers and editors offer some of the best advice on where to visit. So, if you’re looking for inspo for next year, look no further than this year’s edition of Conde Nast Traveler’s annual round-up of best places to travel.

The list includes some lesser-known destinations, like Melides, Portugal, and Mustang, Nepal, alongside long-time favourites such as Marrakech, Morocco, and Kenya that it deems worth the hype.

To create the round-up, the publication enlists the help of its extensively-travelled network of writers from around the world, as well as its editors from the US, UK, Spin and India. The 23 destinations that make the list are first pitched, and then endorsed and defended, until eventually the team aligns on them as a place readers will most want to travel to over the next 12 months.

“There’s something here for every kind of traveller, whether you seek extraordinary excursions through ancient rainforests, a blossoming terroir-driven culinary scene, or dazzling cultural calendars packed with world-class music and rare art exhibits,” the publication writes.

It also goes on to say it believes that what binds each of the listed places is an opportunity for richer engagement with local communities, slower travel, and more meaningful—and joyful—human connection.
