Stan will be the exclusive Australian home for the highly anticipated new drama BMF, which was inspired by the true story of the Detroit based Black Mafia Family.

The series is produced by rapper and actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and will feature Snoop Dogg — real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.

According to a press release from Stan, BMF is a “story about love, kinship and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream.”

The series is inspired by the true story of two brothers who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in the United States.

Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory’s charismatic leadership, Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s business acumen and the fraternal partnership’s vision beyond the drug trade and into the world of hip-hop would render the brothers iconic on a global level. Their unwavering belief in family loyalty would be the cornerstone of their partnership and the crux of their eventual estrangement.

BMF stars Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr as his real-life father, Demetrius while Snoop Dogg takes on the role of Pastor Swift.

Da’Vinchi (The Way Back, grown-ish), Russell Hornsby (Fences, The Hate U Give), Michole Briana White (Dead to MeShe Hate Me), Ajiona Alexus (Empire, 13 Reasons Why), Eric Kofi Abrefa (Blue Story, Fury), Myles Truitt (Black LighteningThe New Edition Story) and  Steve Harris (The Practice, Diary of a Mad Black Woman) also star.

Of course, 50 Cent is no stranger to executive producing gritty crime shows, having co-created the series in the Power spinoff franchise including the latest instalment Power Book III: Raising Kanan. The rapper also executive produced and starred in the original series Power, in which he played the character of Kanan which was inspired by his real-life experiences selling drugs as a teenager.

For his part, Snoop has acted in a large number of films including Scary Movie 5, Starsky & Hutch, Mac & Devin Go to High School, and Pitch Perfect 2 and has appeared in television shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Utopia Falls, F Is for Family and Monk

BMF will premiere on 26 September, the same day as the U.S. and only on Stan. Catch the trailer below.
