These Fruit Print Homewares Are Sure to Pear Well With Any Space

Homewares with fruit prints or shaped like fruits have been popping up everywhere recently, and we’re peachy keen for the trend. But what’s the reasoning behind its sudden spike in popularity?

“I think we’re all looking for more colour in our lives, and fruits and other floral onto homewares is a really easy and natural way of injecting colour onto the tabletop,” says Alyce Tran, co-founder of Australian homewares brand In The Roundhouse. “It’s definitely a summer vibe with the tones, but can also go into more autumnal and wintery vibes, it just depends on how it is styled.”

Lucy Fenton, director and founder of another Australian homewares brand Fenton and Fenton, points out that European ceramicists and textile designers have been playing with fruit in their designs for decades. She says they bring fruit print homewares bring a cheerful, bright and fresh feel to a space.

As for what to note when styling fruit print homewares, Fenton notes that they work best when paired with block colours. geometric prints or stripes. She says her team often mixes patterns and styles, but follows the general rule of different patterns, same colourway. “Colour is key when playing with pattern,” she says.

Tran says you can also tap into the trend by styling a table with actual fruits – and then either letting that be the star of the show with neutral homewares or by adding fruit print homewares to complement the real-life set-up.

“Styling with actual fruits is such an easy and cost-effective way to bring life to a table setting,” she says.
