Every year the excitement of the Oscars broadcast takes a poignant pause to reflect on the lives that have sadly been lost. Undoubtedly one of the biggest departures from the entertainment world was saying goodbye to our beloved, Olivia Newton-John who died in 2022 after a decades-long battle with breast cancer.
During the 95th Academy Awards John Travolta took to the stage to announce the in memoriam tribute and used some heartfelt words to highlight the special relationship he had with his former Grease co-star.

“Each of them left an individual and indelible mark that shared and informed us, they’ve touched our hearts, they’ve made us smile, and became dear friends, who we will always remain hopelessly devoted to,” he said, holding back tears.
It’s clear that even though Grease was released back in 1978, the connection Olivia and John shared remained as strong as ever right up until her passing.
