From beachfront mansions to homes on secluded private islands, Australia has some of the world’s most luxurious — and expensive — Airbnbs. So, what are some of the prettiest and priciest among them? Fortunately, exchange rate platform S Money has found them.
The platform has identified the stand-out stays around the world, including the 10 priciest Airbnbs in Australia as well as those around the world. It searched Airbnb for the highest-priced listings and then checked the top results manually to ensure accuracy.
So, what did it find? Well, when it comes to the most expensive Airbnb in the country, The Crypto Castle in Sydney’s South Coogee took the crown, with a $ 24,861-a-night price tag.
Though few details are listed about the property online, we do know that it’s owned by Finder founder and Bitcoin tycoon Fred Schebesta, and has five bedrooms, a garage that’ll fit up to four cars and a temperature-controlled wine cellar. Designed by Italian architect Renato D’Ettore, the home was sculpted from concrete, steel, stone, and glass, and has multiple terraces and viewing platforms.

“A raw and robust exterior gives way to a refined interior where the interplay of light and space creates a remarkable effect with walls of glass framing the ocean panorama, an infinity edge pool that merges with the seascape and multiple indoor and outdoor living spaces at one with the nature,” reads its description on Domain, at the time of its selling.
Also on the top 10 list in Australia is Makepeace Island Noosa, a private island in Noosa owned by Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Australia co-founder Brett Godfrey, where a night’s stay will set you back $24,703. Properties in Sydney’s Balmoral and Sutherland Shire, Melbourne’s Beaconsfield and Port Douglas, Queensland also made the cut.
The most expensive Airbnb in the world was Musha Cay at Copperfield Bay in the Bahamas, an island owned by illusionist David Copperfield. For $88,800 a night, you can have full access to the private island, stay in one of five homes, which sleeps up to 16 people, and be waited on by a butler, gardener, and boatman.
