Million Dollar Island is here, and while we kicked things off with 100 contestants, we said goodbye to many of them in the first week. One thing’s for sure: this game is no joke. Hosted by Ant Middleton on a remote desert island, Million Dollar Island has already delivered twists and turns galore, and things are only just getting started. As we get deeper into the game, it’s time to get to know the Million Dollar Island cast member Dok Mamer.
Million Dollar Island Cast: Meet Dok Mamer
Dok Mamer is a 28-year-old influencer from New South Wales, who has captured the hearts of 3.3 million followers on TikTok. On social media, Dok is all about spreading the love, with his uplifting messages about the importance of kindness. With his caring nature, infectious enthusiasm, and a touch of goofiness, Dok has quickly become a favourite among his audience.
Originally from South Sudan, Dok turned to social media as a platform to combat racism and challenge stereotypes. He strives to show the world that being Black and from North-Eastern Africa does not mean that he’s a thief or a violent person.
Dok’s Life Outside the Show
Dok moved to Australia as a child, and his personal experiences as a refugee have shaped his perspective on life.
Each day, he finds joy in appreciating the simple blessings of life, such as having access to food, water, safety, and freedom. Having grown up amidst the turmoil of war, Dok is especially driven to bring about positive change in South Sudan, with a particular focus on empowering repressed women.
These are the issues he speaks about on his TikTok, and his motto is always to “spread the love, not the hate”.
@dokmamer Replying to @Gav i swear people just be saying anything 😂😂 #spreadthelovenotthehate✌🏿
Over on Instagram, there are plenty of photos of Dok’s other passion, which is basketball. You’ll also find happy snaps of Dok with his family, friends, and the occasional selfie for good measure.
