The performers for the 94th Academy Awards have been announced and the lineup is certainly befitting the most glamorous night in Hollywood.
Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Finneas, Reba McEntire and Sebastián Yatra will appear during the telecast, which is taking place at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 27.
Van Morrison, who is nominated for his song “Down to Joy” from Belfast, was asked to perform but is unable to attend the ceremony due to his tour schedule. Sadly, this means the track will not be performed during the event.
The nominees for Best Original Song at the 2022 Oscars are “Be Alive” from King Richard (music and lyrics by Dixson and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter), “Dos Origuitas” from Encanto (music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda), “Down to Joy” from Belfast (music and lyrics by Van Morrison), “No Time to Die” from No Time to Die (music and lyrics by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell) and “Somehow You Do” from Four Good Days (music and lyrics by Diane Warren).
It’s a competitive category and one that could see Lin-Manuel Miranda become an EGOT (recipient of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) if it is him who takes home the gold.
If Eilish wins, she would be the youngest winner in the category’s history at the age of just 20. The current record holder is H.E.R. was 23 when she won in 2021 for “Fight for You” from Judas and the Black Messiah.
It was previously reported that Beyoncé could potentially be performing “Be Alive” from the tennis courts in Compton, California which is, of course, where Venus and Serena Williams used to practice when they were kids, as portrayed in King Richard. However, this has not yet been confirmed by the Academy so it remains to be seen where the performance will take place.
The 2022 Academy Awards will be hosted by comedians Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes will host the ceremony — making it the first time the annual awards show has had a host since 2018.
Lady Gaga, Chris Rock, Kevin Costner, Zoë Kravitz, Rosie Perez and last year’s best-supporting actress winner Yuh-Jung Youn of Minari, are just a few of the presenters who have been for the event.
If you are keen to catch all of the action of entertainment’s most anticipated night the 94th Academy Awards will air exclusively on Channel 7 and 7plus, LIVE AEDT on Monday, March 28 which works out to be around noon. This means you can see all of the glitz and glamour at exactly the same time as the US.
