‘The Amazing Race’ Star Beau Ryan Has Been Everywhere — But Australia Is the Place to Be

Beau Ryan

The Amazing Race host, Beau Ryan, is anything if not full of boundless energy. The loveable larrikin and former NRL player, has been lucky enough to travel around the world with his plump hosting gig on the Network Ten show.

However, if you ask him where his favourite place to visit, Ryan will say without hesitation that it’s right here in Australia.

“I’ve travelled all over the world, to every part and every continent,” the TV host said in an interview with The Latch. “I’ve been to parts I never thought I would. I’ve been to the border of Russia and China, all over Europe, America and Asia, but Australia is lightyears ahead of the rest of them.”

Due to the global pandemic, The Amazing Race was forced to stay on home soil, and while international travel was not on the itinerary, our island home is filled with immense beauty, extremes and landscapes.

“Not only do we have the best living conditions, let’s get real, the people are wonderful. The coffee is good but it’s the landscapes that are incredible. I mean, you can be on a two-hour flight in the bush and then the rainforest. You can be in the red centre and then you can be in the snow. I love it.”

During the season, Ryan was fortunate enough to head to the red centre up above Coober Pedy, Uluru and Alice Springs.

“There were wild animals everywhere and the night sky out in the country is breathtaking,” he said.

After filming the series, Ryan travelled with his family (including wife Kara and kids, eight-year-old daughter Remi and three-year-old son, Jesse) in a campervan and spent three weeks along the North coast.

“It was in the outback and probably one of my favourite holidays,” he said.

As for the new season, Ryan said we’re going to love the new cast, who were chosen out of 30,000 applicants.

“I fell in love with a lot of the teams but at the same time, I had to remind them who was daddy, you know, who was boss,” Ryan joked. “Everyone’s going to love Sky-Blue and Jack and Sefa and Jessica, the besties from Western Sydney, you can’t help but fall in love with them.”
