Pineapple belongs on pizza (don’t @ me), but it has little place with chocolate. Just one woman’s opinion, and yet Tim Tam wants to introduce a new flavour: ‘Tim Tam Caramelised Pineapple’.
To be fair, it’s a toss-up between this and ‘Tim Tam Dark Choc Banoffee’, and Arnott’s is putting a vote to Australia to decide which flavour will make it onto supermarket shelves.
We know you’ll do the right thing and vote Banoffee… right? I mean, pineapples are delicious and their sweet juice is the life behind our favourite cocktail, the Piña colada, but Tim Tam and pineapple is a chaotic combo that quite frankly no one asked for. Again, one woman’s (correct) opinion.
I suppose it sounds alright, though. The Tim Tam Caramelised Pineapple flavour “features two crunchy chocolate biscuits sandwiched together with a caramelised pineapple flavoured cream and gooey caramel centre, covered in our delicious Tim Tam milk chocolate”.
But the Dark Choc Banoffee Flavour “features two crunchy biscuits sandwiched together with a creamy banana flavoured cream and gooey caramel centre, covered in Tim Tam premium indulgent dark chocolate”.
Arnott’s says both flavours will make strong cases to become the newest indulgent addition to the Aussie pantry, and since they can’t decide which flavour that should be, they’re asking for your help.
To vote, you’ll need to head to the TimTam Instagram from April 12 until April 18, where you can cast your vote in Instagram Stories. To my surprise, the votes are sitting pretty even, with 48% hoping for Banoffee and 52% going for Pineapple.
Only 24 hours in, things could change significantly as more and more Australians note their preference. Last time Tim Tam ran a voting comp, over 638,000 people voted. “We can’t wait to see how many get involved this year and what Australia decides! Democracy at its finest!” says Matt Grant, Arnott’s marketing manager.
