Global apparel retailer and basics favourite UNIQLO, has announced the launch of the Uniqlo U Spring/Summer 2021 Collection starting July 22, and with it, a collection for kids – for the first time ever.
Designed by Artistic Director Christophe Lemaire and his UNIQLO Research and Discovery (R&D) team in Paris, the spring/summer collection marks the 10th season of Uniqlo U and features sophisticated essentials with a sense of lightness and freedom after a long winter spent indoors.
Uniqlo U is a collection of “Future LifeWear Essentials.” The world-class designers and
patternmakers in the Paris design team reimagine everyday clothing using innovative materials and new, contemporary silhouettes.
Each season is designed in the pursuit of a simplified, modern wardrobe. UNIQLO R&D Centers are places for experimentation, spaces to try new ideas, innovate and create. The Paris R&D Center complements other UNIQLO R&D Centers in Tokyo, Shanghai, New York, and Los Angeles.
The reason that UNIQLO is such a well-loved brand, is that it’s versatile and comfortable, without compromising on quality and aesthetics.
This season, Uniqlo U’s designs mix earthy neutrals mix with bright hues, evoking a feeling of nature’s renewal.
Modern living calls for clothing with simplicity and purpose, and Uniqlo U gets this more than most. In this unknown world, versatile, practical essentials are more important than ever, especially when mixing personal and professional is becoming a standard.
In a new endeavour for Uniqlo U this Spring/Summer season, there will be a selection of items for kids, bringing that same versatility, comfort and style to kids’ wardrobes.
New for women
Clean, minimal silhouettes and easy-care fabrics. Light, airy wovens are made from viscose and cotton-poly blends, and seamless 3D knits feature summery yarns. The semi-sheer shirt returns in classic men’s stripes. Denim makes a strong impression, with regular-fit jeans in a clean straight cut. A shiny rayon tunic and dresses showcase fluidity and soft colours. A skirt in cotton twill flares out in a new A-line silhouette, while coats are cut shorter for easy bicycle commutes.
New for men
Essential, functional, and durable pieces are designed with practicality and utility; simple styles are rooted in archetypal men’s shapes. Fabrics are focused on wovens that age well like classic cotton poplin and twill, and 3D knits feature a fresh linen-cotton blend. The Uniqlo U T-shirt comes in customer-favourite stripes and a new boat neck. Work pants are in a complementary earthy tone. A trucker jacket and regular-fit jeans create a tone-on-tone look.
New to Uniqlo U this season: Kids’ styles
Drawn from archival favourites, dresses, T-shirts and shorts were scaled down to child sizes. The collection gives kids of all ages the opportunity to experience the joys of dressing well, with simply sophisticated yet comfortable styles in refined fabrics for every day.
The Uniqlo U collaboration collection will be available from July 22.Â
