Was ‘Gladiators’ 2024 Filmed in a Literal Colosseum? The Facts

Where was Gladiators filmed in 2024?

When you think Gladiators, you think of a colosseum. When you think Gladiators, you think of stadiums that are larger than life. Therefore, the 2024 version of Gladiators deserves a set of such magnitude. However, will this new series pull such a feat off?

Gladiators 2024 is a revival of a classic reality TV competition that ran in the mid-’90s. In each episode, a group of combatants competes in a gauntlet of physical challenges, including wrestling matches, obstacle course races, and aerial-based fights. If you win enough of these gauntlets, you become a Gladiator icon.

This new series is hosted by none other than Liz Ellis and Beau Ryan. Liz is best known for captaining the Aussie Netball team, the Australian Diamonds, while Beau, a former rugby player, currently hosts The Amazing Race Australia.

What’s more, this series features some athletes with incredible stage names: Harriet Roberts as Arrow, Kwame Duah as Maximus, and Sandor Earl as Phoenix.

But what stage in Australia could possibly house all these legends? Get ready to rumble with some knowledge.

Where Was Gladiators 2024 Filmed?

In 1995, the original Gladiators was filmed at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. In the middle of the arena, the contestants competed in a variety of challenges, surrounded by seats filled with adoring fans.

According to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, this venue has 11,000 tiered seats. However, it is very unlikely that each episode of Gladiators packed the whole arena.

However, Gladiators 2024 was not filmed in Brisbane. Filming began in an undisclosed Sydney location in September of this year. Stay tuned, though! We’ll update this article as soon as we know more about the specific filming location.

Gladiators is set to premiere at 7.30pm on Monday, January 15, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand. Miss this premiere? Catch up on 10 Play.
