It’s been dubbed Sydney’s picnic day, but whatever you want to call it from September 13, 2021, fully-vaxxed residents will be allowed to picnic with up to five people in their same LGA and within 5km of each person’s home. So while you pick out the spot to meet friends and family, we’ve done the hard yards to round up a raft of picnic hampers from local businesses to the professionals who know which cheese can make or break a picnic.
Chicken Paradiso
Hailing from the legends at Glorietta in North Sydney comes Chicken Paradiso, an online charcoal chicken shop where you can buy a whole wood-fired chicken to share with shaker fries and side salads, or a fried chicken sandwich and buttermilk fried chicken. Order here for delivery or pick up.
Bel & Brio

For $150 you can get a picnic hamper serving two, which features a tote bag, selection of charcuterie, lamb pide, a cheese selection, fairy bread cookie sandwich, rocky road, a bottle of rose, outdoor glassware, and all the plates and cutlery you need. They’ve also teamed up with Everleigh Bottling Co, to offer a special hamper for $170 with sparkling cocktails, and all the foods you get in the NOMAD packs. The Stinking Bishops Hampers
For the cheese aficionados, The Stinking Bishops in Newtown is your go-to for all things cheese. They have a 3 cheese hamper, an ultimate hamper, and a cheese and meat hamper available for pick up and delivery. The 3 cheese hamper costs $65 and features a soft cheese, hard cheese, and washed rind, along with quince paste and crackers. If you’re looking for something meatier, the cheese and meat hamper includes two kinds of cheese, salamis, wagyu pastrami, and prosciutto, as well as the usual accompaniments. This hamper costs $95.

FISH SHOP
Fish and chips in the park are a summer necessity. Although this isn’t necessarily a hamper, you can order takeaway from Fish Shop and pack your own DIY picnic basket, complete with restaurant-quality picnic staples, including their infamous fish burger. Fish Shop is open Monday – Friday 12 – 3pm and 5 – 8:30pm / Saturday – Sunday 12pm – 8:30pm. Order here.
Centennial Homestead
Centennial Homestead, which is conveniently located in Centennial Park is offering picnic hampers available for pre-order. Hampers start at $40 per person, with a minimum of two people. In the hamper, you will find a selection of meats including dry aged prosciutto, salami, cheeses, olives and grapes, sweet potato hummus and crackers to scoop it up with. There is also sandwich options, a salad, and dessert. You can add a bottle of wine too. Pick up your hamper from The Pantry, located behind the restaurant.
Sydney Picnic Co
Sometimes you can simply trust the name of a business to deliver an exceptional experience. The Sydney Picnic Co have mastered the art of the picnic, and are sharing it with you by creating picnic hampers for all occasions and tastes. They offer four options starting from $160 and can include smoked trout, burrata salads, roast chicken, a selection of charcuterie, beef fillet, marinated olives, and brownies for dessert. Percy Plunkett
Beloved local cafe Percy Plunkett in Penrith has packaged up their best dishes, so you can enjoy a picnic with all your faves, Their Breakkie Box, which costs $49 is filled with deep dish pancakes, fresh fruits, scones, jams, and butterscotch sauce to drizzle. They also have a picnic at home box with two paninis including the fillings such as pastrami, cheddar cheese, pickles, tomatoes and aioli. You will also find mini croissants and a slice of banana bread. The lunch box is by far a favourite with crumbed chicken sliders, sweet potato falafels, carrot fritters, pita bread with hummus and fattoush salad. Order here for pick up and delivery.
