You’re already binge-watching The Office, so why not get paid for it at the same time? Business and career site, Overheard On Conference Calls, wants to pay someone US $1,000 (around AU $1,630), to host a remote watch party of The Office with friends (at a social distance, of course).
The initiative was launched in an effort to “help foster a sense of community” during isolation, and reward those working to maintain connections with others while finding positivity and fun, even in these uncertain times.
To take part, you’ll need to binge-watch 15 of your favourite The Office episodes over one week with at least two other friends tuning in remotely. The best bit? You can choose your own episodes, (definitely not Get The Girl AKA the lowest-rated episode in the show’s history, in which Andy goes to Florida to bring Erin back).
While laughing along, you’ll fill out worksheets provided by Overheard on Conference Calls, and share your experience on social media.
The promotion requires you to fill out an online application with questions around your passion for the show, incuding your favourite episode, favourite quote, and why you’re the perfect person for the job.
The winner will receive US $1,000, as well as a Netflix gift card.
Entries close Monday, April 27, but before you go ahead and enter, there is a small catch. The application is open to US residents, so if you have a friend living in the US, we recommend viewing alongside them and going splitskies on the winnings.
Or, you know, you could just binge The Office anyway as a way to boost household morale and clock in a few laughs each evening. Whether you’ve seen it once or countless times, re-watching your favourite TV shows is, in fact, a form of self-care.
It’s true, a psychologist confirmed that fact for us recently. You’re welcome.
