Bunnings has been nothing short of a godsend during these past few months in isolation, equipping us with the tools and advice we’ve needed to carry out those home improvement projects that have kept us busy and made staying home that much more enjoyable.
But while we’re thrilled to wander the huge aisles and load up on indoor plants we may or may not kill a matter of weeks later, our trips to Bunnings are simply not the same without the juicy sausage sizzle that usually rewards us at the end.
The beloved Bunnings sauso was called off Australia-wide amid the COVID-19 pandemic in a preventative move to prioritise customer safety. Back in July, though, the sausage sizzle resumed at stores in TAS, NT, SA, WA and QLD.
Now, after months of cravings, the sauso is making a triumphant return to even more states and territories. From October 3, visitors to ACT stores will be able to grab a snag, with NSW customers able to buy one the weekend following on October 10.
VIC shoppers will have to wait a little bit longer, the hardware store confirms.
“The sausage sizzles are an integral fundraiser and we’re really pleased to be starting the careful process of bringing them back in places where restrictions have eased,” Bunnings said in a release.
“We just ask everyone to continue to be patient and respect the guidelines in place.”
While the sausage sizzles will have the same great flavour and the option for onions, the way people acquire their sausage sandwiches will look a little different.
Social distancing measures will apply at all times, masks are mandatory for those holding the sausage sizzle, and increased cleaning processes and hygiene requirements will take place for the handling of condiments like sauce.
