It’s about damn time Lizzo had her own doco, and we’re feeling good as hell that there’s one on the way! Sorry, we had to.
Lizzo’s HBO Max documentary Love, Lizzo will chart the singer and flautist’s meteoric rise to success, and offer an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the moments that shaped her.
In a statement, Lizzo said that “growing up”, she’d “never dreamed” she’d get to “experience all of the things [she’s] accomplished in [her] life”, adding: “and I’m just getting started”.
She continued: “I’m so excited I get to share and relive my journey with my fans and HBO Max. From Cuz I Love You to my dramatic world tour, losing and gaining love, and creating my new album Special, y’all get to see the amount of time, patience, blood, sweat and tears that went into this process.
“It takes 10 years to become an ‘overnight success,’ and hopefully I can inspire other young creatives to keep going.”
While there’s no trailer for this one just yet, BINGE has confirmed that the doco will be available to stream on their platform on November 25, 2022.
Documentaries about iconic (and often infamous) public figures are all the rage at the moment, with multiple documentaries about Britney Spears hitting streaming platforms in 2021, as well as docos about The Beatles, Janet Jackson, Alanis Morissette, and Kanye West all premiering within months of each other.
2022 will see plenty more familiar faces getting their own docos so here are some of the ones we’re most excited about.
