The suburbs north, south and west of Sydney are packed with stunning, yet affordable hotels, but the options for a good quality and value group house in these areas are far fewer.
One group home that ticks off many criteria you might be looking for is Eden Farm, a farm stay with six bedrooms and three bathrooms. A cruisey, two-hour drive from Sydney in the Southern Highlands, it sleeps up to 16 guests and boasts interior magazine-ready interiors, complete with glass doors that open onto a patio.
Cook your meals with your family or friends in the home’s open-plan kitchen, using its Smeg oven and Miele dishwasher, or on the large outdoor deck with a Weber Summit six-burner barbecue. Then, enjoy it at the table in the open-plan living and dining space or curled up in a chair in front of the outdoor fire pit.
The two-floor home also has a washing machine and dryer, driveway space for multiple cars to park and an indoor log fireplace. It was recently renovated and features natural and locally sourced materials, as well as many of its original build elements.
You’ll find little reason to leave the home for entertainment, with it boasting a pool table, dart board and trampoline. It also has a Sonos sound system throughout, multiple smart TVs and X-Box systems and a fully stocked games cupboard. On the property, which is a working hobby farm, are several resident farm animals, including sheep, alpacas and bees in an apiary.
Should you wish to explore, though, you’ll find yourself a five-minute drive away from the main drag of Exeter, a small Southern Highlands town with cafés and boutique shops. The surrounding area is also home to several wineries, including St Maur Wines, Sutton Forest Wines and a bit further away, Centennial Vineyards.
