7 Things The Latch Editors Are Treating Themselves to in February

Every month, our editors share the one thing they treated themselves to this month to give you some inspo the next time you, too, want a little pick-me-up. We focus on things that will add genuine value to your life and will last for a long time to come.

Whether it’s a splurge, a little luxury, or something they’ve had on their list for a while. This month, we celebrated the slide into a new year by picking up boujee beauty products, kitchen gadgets we’d had our eyes on for a while, activewear, and a few bits to make the summer heat more comfortable.

r+co hair products

R+Co Television Ready Shampoo and Conditioner — Amanda Bardas, Publisher

You know how you associate certain scents with memories? Before I got married, I splurged on the R+Co Television Ready Shampoo ($49) and Conditioner ($49) that smelled incredible. Now, I use it throughout each summer so I’m transported back to our trip to Greece for our wedding. I know $100 is a lot to spend on shampoo and conditioner, but you only need a small dollop, so a little goes a long way. (And I’ll take any semblance of a holiday these days).

sodastream

Sodastream — Ben Tyers, Thrillist Editor

This was the month I finally caved and bought a Sodastream ($85). We drink so much soda water at home and I’m mindful of the amount of PET bottles we’re throwing in the recycling — this will reduce it to zero.

nimble activewear

Nimble Activewear — Sangeeta Kocharekar, Lifestyle Editor

I’m obsessed with coastal walks and Pilates, so I live in activewear on the weekends. I got this cropped jumper with a top zip from Nimble Activewear ($109), which will come in handy for chilly mornings and nights, and this set of bra top and shorts ($158). I love the white and party dots, and have been wearing the set for full days on the weekends, only changing out of it to get into my PJs — it’s so comfy.

therabody wave roller

TheraBody Wave Roller — Natasha Bazika, Thrillist Lifestyle Producer

Working from home hasn’t been great on my back. I switch from the desk to the dining room table, outside table, and sometimes the couch. I noticed my muscles were stiff, and with the three walks I go on a day, I needed something to help me loosen up my tight muscles. I’ve used a foam roller forever, but this vibrating one (the TheraBody Wave Roller, $249) really digs into your muscles to releases tension.

My boyfriend is a golfer and lives by his foam roller, but when he tried this, he said he’d never go back. It’s got the strong settings for stubborn knots, and sometimes, I will turn it on and pop it on my back when I’m sitting at my desk for a massage while I work. It has helped so much, which is great considering I chose my office desk chair for style, not practicality. The best part: it’s small enough to take it on my travels — my boyfriend takes it on his tournaments and swears by it.

beach umbrella with lemon pattern

Heritage Beach Umbrella — Valentina Todoroska, Managing Editor

I’ve always admired the chic people on the beach who sit under a stylish beach umbrella. In an attempt to hold onto summer holidays, I decided I’d try and become one of those people. I bought this beach umbrella from Myer and not only does the look of it make me happy, but it also gives my partner and I more sun protection during a day out. Plus, it has tassels. While my exact umbrella is now sold out, the Laurissa Fringed Umbrella from Pillow Talk ($80, originally $130) is similar.

personal training

Personal Training Sessions — Alana Young, POPSUGAR Gaming Producer

Surprising my friends with little gifts always cheers me up, and I hit the motherload recently. My best friend has been sticking to a brutal workout regime for the last year or so, but he lives in a really remote area where there are no good gyms. I got him sessions with a personal trainer that he can do over Zoom. Now he’ll finally have an exercise program that’s been specifically designed for him to help him achieve his fitness goals! The sessions are with my PT, Katie Pitts at Fitness Playground — who I swear by! She helps me get amazing results — because he’s always talked about how he wishes he could work with a trainer too. I feel so happy I could do this for him.

vornado room fan

Vornado 460 Fan — Ange Law, Commercial and E-Commerce Editor

I’ve always considered myself a fan connoisseur, having slept with my face basically pressed up against one since I came out of the womb. Last year, I was corrected when a colleague told me that no, actually, their fan was the best fan. She was talking about the Vornado 460 Small Whole Room Air Circulator Fan ($157) and she was absolutely right. Unlike any other fan I’ve tried, this one does what it says on the can and really does circulate the air around the room, miraculously cool it as it does so. Even on stale and humid Sydney nights, it has managed to cool the room down (as best as a fan can).
