Summer is back and boating adventures are now on the cards for Western Sydney residents, with GoBoat launching self-drive river cruises in the bayside suburb of Cabarita. The family-friendly, electric picnic boats will set sail along the Parramatta River from 15 December.
In a first for Western Sydney, people with no boating experience can hire and drive a GoBoat from D’Albora Marina Cabarita Point and explore the river and coves around the Inner West for up to five hours. Pack a picnic or order one to be packed for you and enjoy a day out on the water. There are no age limits for passengers and dogs are welcome, for a family-friendly experience.
Each European-style boat seats up to eight people and features a communal recycled timber picnic table and sunshade for protection. The eco-friendly boats are constructed from fibreglass using recycled PET bottles instead of virgin glass and are powered by state-of-the-art electric motors.
Sydneysiders eager to set sail can book sessions from one to five hours in length, with the most popular two-hour hire costing $199 (under $25 per person). Skippers and their crew will receive a thorough safety briefing and demonstration prior to setting sail. All boats are speed limited and all safety equipment including life jackets for adults and children are provided because safety first.
Cabarita Point is GoBoat’s first Sydney location since opening in Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane, with more locations on the way.
