Lego Is Releasing Six New Harry Potter Sets and No You’re Not Too Old for Them

Colouring-in, puzzles, crafts; they’re all activities we used to do as kids, but have recently begun taking part in once more for the therapeutic calm they bring amid the COVID-19 pandemic. That, and the fact there’s not a lot else to do while we whittle away the days in isolation and count down to the first big boozy brunch with friends.

This week, it was announced that LEGO would be releasing not one, but six new Harry Potter-themed sets, and while we’d always think that’s cool and secretly look forward to playing along with our kids and nieces and nephews, now we’re pretty sure we’ll be buying the sets for ourself.

The six new sets will be designed around iconic moments from the entirety of the Harry Potter series, with new scenes from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

With the placement of each individual brick, you’ll be able to assemble the hidden ‘Room of Requirement‘ and pretend-train Dumbledore’s Army, or put together the ‘Astronomy Tower‘, where Snape famously kills Dumbledore. Strangely, the two characters do not come with this particular set, however, there are many secret rooms to explore within the tower.

Below the observation deck you’ll find the Ravenclaw common room and dormitory, Professor Slughorn’s office, and the Herbology classroom complete, which is home to a baby mandrake. This set also comes with heaps of characters, including Draco Malfoy, Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood.

The ‘Attack on The Burrow‘ set is another one catching our eyes for its many rooms and possibilities. Like The Burrow, it’s tall and somewhat impossible with its structure, but is cosy and packed full of surprises.

Everything from Ron’s bedroom to Molly’s kitchen is here, allowing for some fun and easy playtime, but should you wish to shake things up, the set also comes with Death Eaters Fenrir Greyback and Bellatrix Lestrange, plus some flames, to reenact the attack from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Additional sets include ‘4 Privet Drive‘, complete with the Ford Anglia car and Dobby, the ‘Forbidden Forest: Umbridge’s Encounter‘ with giant Grawp and centaurs, and a giant Hedwig figurine.

“Each year we get the chance to recreate some of the most action-packed and exciting settings from the films. We hope these new products inspire young builders around the world to believe anything is possible as they act out their own adventures in the Wizarding World,” Marcos Bessa, LEGO Harry Potter design lead, said in a release.

The new LEGO Harry Potter sets are available to pre-order from April 30, ready to hit stores on June 1. Prices start at $29.99 and go up to $179.99.
