This Is the Vegan Mascara I Reach for to Achieve Fluffy, Long Lashes

Ever tried a vegan mascara? Considering beeswax is a common ingredient in the majority of mascara products, the thought of a beeswax-less formula might not sound too crash hot. How will it coat the lashes? Is it flaky without the added beeswax? These were my original concerns but I now stand corrected.

I recently got my hands on the KVD Vegan Beauty Go Big or Go Home Mascara and as the name suggests, the product is made without animal products. The entire KVD Vegan Beauty line was completely reformulated as plant-based in 2016 to and it hasn’t hindered the brand’s success. In fact, the KVD Vegan Beauty Tattoo Liner is Sephora’s best selling eyeliner.

The tube of the Go Big or Go Home Mascara indeed lives up to its name as it’s the largest mascara I’ve ever seen. It’s probably roughly double the thickness of a regular-sized mascara tube, I’d say. The tube itself is matte black and the name of the product is printed onto the side in a shiny black font.

The formula is made with a blend of plant-based fats and waxes including olive and sunflowers oils which coat your eyelashes but don’t feel overly heavy or oily. In fact, the texture is super creamy and quite thick so if you prefer a more liquid formula, this might not be your bag.

I quite like the texture as it probably coats each eyelash and is pretty buildable, considering how thick it is. The pigment of the “Tropper Black” shade is also super black and bold on the lashes.

The GBOGH Mascara promises to be volumising and it really does deliver. It makes my lashes look super long, fluffy and fluttery — I can’t actually remember a time when a product made my lashes look so fluffy and I’m here for it.

It doesn’t make your eyelashes looking spidery (which is not my personal vibe so it’s a win for me) or clumpy. But, in saying that, you can pop on a few coats to create the spidery look if that’s what you’re after.

I’ve trialled one coat of the product versus layering it up with multiple coats and the sweet spot for me is two coats, which makes lashes look fluffy but not clumpy and heavy. And, despite layering the product up, it hasn’t flaked off — even after long stints of wearing it.

If you’re on the hunt for a vegan mascara that gives you fluffy, fluttery lashes, the KVD Vegan Beauty Go Big or Go Home Mascara is definitely worth your time and money. You can shop this via Sephora Australia for $30.
