Creating a LEGO masterpiece is second only to showing it off. After spending hours carefully placing bricks in their right spot, the next challenge lies in finding a spot for your creation to live permanently.
For many, the playroom, study or office typically doubles as the LEGO home gallery, but now, you can display your creative art pieces in an even cooler way, by wearing them on your person.
In a collaboration that can only be described as a match made in heaven, LEGO has teamed up with iconic fashion house Levi’s for a collection of wearable art that’s both playful and nostalgic.
The collaboration features the first-ever flexible LEGO baseplate. Sewn directly onto a garment, it’s a pliable silicone panel that invites wearers to create customisable designs using LEGO Dots, snapped directly onto its surface.
The baseplate is available to be sewn onto a range of Levi’s garments in the collection, including hats, hoodies, crewneck T-shirts, bags, accessories, and of course, Levi’s iconic 501 ’93 jeans.
Every item in the collection will come with a branded bag of 110 LEGO Dots, in addition to the baseplates, which means buyers can continue to update the designs with no limitations.
“This is such a fun collaboration celebrating self-expression, creativity and nostalgia,” says Karyn Hillman, chief product officer for Lev Strauss & Co.
“It’s Levi’s and the LEGO Group coming together to co-create something really special and new, but undeniably familiar. With the customisable baseplates, Levi’s is now literally a new blank canvas for LEGO play.”
The line-up of apparel is anything but predictable. Each piece in the collection displays small nods to LEGO’s nostalgic elements, from LEGO’s primary colourways of hats and hoodies, to shank buttons and product labels.
“There’s so much passion and energy in this partnership, working with the creative and iconic Levi’s brand is inspiring, and is pushing the way we innovate the LEGO brand experience,” Lena Dixen, senior vice president at LEGO Group, says in a press release.
The LEGO x Levi’s collection will be available for purchase on October 1, 2020. Best to set your reminders now; this collaboration is sure to sell out in no time.
