Some Good News: Aussie Healthcare Workers to Get Three Months Free Phone Service From Optus

Registered healthcare workers won’t have to pay their mobile phone bills for the next three months thanks to the folks over at Optus.

According to The Courier Mail, the plan was announced by new Optus CEO Kelly Bayer Rosmarin as a thank you for “the heroes on the front line who are supporting us”.

“These are trying times and we recognise that our health workers are putting themselves on the frontline day in, day out to protect and help Australians during this pandemic, and we want to say thank you,” Bayer Rosmarin said.

“We are so grateful to all the nurses, doctors, and other healthcare workers who are working in unprecedented conditions. So, we will be waiving their Optus mobile bill access charges in recognition of their invaluable support and dedication.”

The initiative came off the back of News Corp’s call to arms to support frontline workers, like doctors and nurses, The Courier Mail has reported.

Vodafone has also revealed it will be waiving fees for registered healthcare workers for two months.

Healthcare workers will be able to sign up to the new initiative via the Optus website.

“Eligible new and existing Optus customers will be able to apply through an online form available next week until 30 April 2020. More information about specific eligibility criteria will be released shortly.”
