Mahalia Murphy is taking her drive and determination to the Middle East in the latest season of SAS Australia. Pushing past her comfort zone comes naturally to the gifted sportswoman, so fans are in for a treat when the show hits Channel 7 in later this year.
She joins Aussie sporting legends — Anthony Mundine, Stephanie Rice and Peter Bol — and other interesting personalities to take on a series of mind boggling tasks on SAS Australia. But what sets Mahalia apart from the rest? Here’s what we can tell you.
SAS Australia 2023: Who Is Mahalia Murphy?

A young Mahalia Murphy had her heart set on a career in Olympic track and field, but soon found herself moving into rugby league and Sevens. She discovered her love for the sport after her family moved into Sydney’s western suburbs, and over a decade later, Mahalia debuted for the St. George Illawarra Dragons club in the NRLW.
Before heading to the desert to film SAS Australia, Mahlia secured a trade over to the NRLW Parramatta Eels earlier this year, and even locked down the Coaches’ Award for 2023.
Where Is Mahalia Murphy from?
Mahalia’s family is originally from Walgett in northern NSW, but later moved to the Blacktown-Doonside area of Western Sydney. SBS reports that she is a proud Kamilaroi woman who started playing rugby league in Penrith before getting selected to play for NSW Women’s side.
