Australian streaming platform Stan has announced a major, multi-year content partnership with Sony Pictures Television, and it includes some pretty huge wins for subscribers.
Over the years, Stan has become the home of a ton of iconic series, like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and thankfully, these won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. The new deal has extended the streaming rights to these shows, and Stan has also secured the exclusive rights to a whole slew of brand new, premium scripted series.
The exclusive, first-run dramas will include Twisted Metal, Straight Man, Panhandle and Passport to Freedom.
Twisted Metal stars Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and Neve Campbell (Scream), and is a half-hour action-comedy. It follows a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. It’s based on the PlayStation franchise of the same name.
Straight Man will keep Better Call Saul‘s Bob Odenkirk on Stan as he stars as William Henry Devereaux Jr, the unlikely chairman of a Pennsylvania college English department.
Stan will also feature a ton of classic Sony Pictures Television shows, like The Nanny, Dawson’s Creek, For Life and more.
When it comes to blockbuster films, Stan’s about to snag itself a slew of blockbuster films, with major franchises including Spider-Man, Jumanji and Men in Black.

Martin Kugeler, Stan’s CEO, said in a press statement that the new agreement would “bring a large suite of world-class, premium drama” to subscribers.
“This deal is the latest addition to our existing partnerships with major Hollywood studios and will give Stan an even stronger long-term lineup of exclusive first-run premium content,” Kugeler continued.
“From Better Call Saul to Spider-Man, Sony Pictures has created some of the most iconic characters and best-loved franchises for our screens,” he said. “Since bringing us Better Call Saul, Sony Pictures has long been an important partner of Stan. We look forward to building on our well-established relationship as we enter this new strategic partnership.”
Mike Wald, Sony Pictures’ EVP for International Distribution and Networks, praised Stan for being “a great partner” for Sony to “reach Australian audiences” with.
“We are thrilled to extend our strong relationship with them and to have Stan as the future home for so many of our most exciting TV series and global franchises,” Wald added.
