Australians have an increasing fascination with the tiny home movement, that may involve either spending a weekend in a micro cabin surrounded by lush greenery, or in a more extreme move, trading in one’s urban home for a travelling tiny home on wheels.
As more and more of us become aware of the impact air travel has on the environment, many are opting for sustainable city breaks closer to home, and thanks to companies like Tiny Away — that offer tiny home escapes within short driving distance from major capital cities like Sydney and Melbourne — more of us have the opportunity to experience the unparalleled connection to nature and off-grid adventure that only tiny homes can provide.

Next week, from March 7-8, a tiny homes carnival will be held in Sydney. Presented by the ultimate tiny home manufacturers and holidaymakers, Big Tiny and the Australian Tiny House Association, the two-day event will host a series of epic sessions that best showcase the tiny home lifestyle today and in the future.
Special guests John Weisbarth and Zack Giffin from Netflix’s Tiny House Nation will be in attendance to share their insights on transitioning into life in a tiny home, and will be on hand to answer attendee questions on the tiny home movement in a meet and greet format.
Bryce Langston, creator of popular web series, Living Big in a Tiny House, will also speak about his personal experience living in a tiny home, and provide insight into how he has managed to explore the world through the tiny house movement for the past six years.
A series of talks will also run across the weekend event. Designed to encourage others to explore the tiny home movement for themselves, the sessions we certainly won’t be missing include the ‘Where can I legally put my tiny house?’ talk and the ‘Building for an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable world’ seminar.
There will also be food trucks, musical performances, activities for the family and tiny homes on-site open for inspection throughout the day. You’ll also get to see a live tiny home build take place.

The Tiny Homes Carnival will be held at the St Ives Showground from 9.30am to 5.00pm on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8.
