In August this year, three years after its build started, W Sydney finally announced its opening date, Thursday, October 12, 2023. Now, it’s sharing more details on its spa, W Sydney Away Spa, which will open on the same date and be available to both hotel guests and non-guests.
Set on the second floor of the property, Away Spa will feature high-design interiors by British designers Bowler James Brindley and windows looking out onto the concrete cityscape. You’ll find relaxation pods, warm lighting, and concrete panels that pay homage to the surrounding city architecture.
Graphic screens of meditative geometric artworks by renowned multidisciplinary artist Bradley Eastman, also known as Beastman, will also feature in the spa’s spaces.
Treatments offered at the spa will use products from sustainable skincare brand Comfort Zone and Australian natural skincare brand, USPA. The menu includes treatment categories Detox, Renew, Rewind, and Refresh and for those on a time-crunch, a separate Quick Fix menu.
Detox sensory journeys, Cryo Ice-Roller treatments, and LED facial therapies that hydrate the skin and build radiance will all be on the menu, performed in one of the spa’s five treatment rooms, including, a double treatment suite couples, friends, and family can book. Before their treatment, guests can relax in a lounge, and after, they’re welcome to use a shared unisex sauna and steam room, followed by a shower.
Easily the most unique feature of the spa will be a beauty bar, in line with the W brand’s larrikin spirit. After their treatment, once they’re showered and dressed, guests can head there for an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink and light bite. They can lounge on their own or meet other fellow guests.
“We’re excited to introduce Sydneysiders and guests to AWAY Spa, a new luxury wellness space that blends relaxation with a social experience and an unconventional design,” says Charlotte Spratt, AWAY Spa Manager. “It’s a new way to revitalise and recharge, infused with W sense of energy and innovation, and we can’t wait to share it with our guests.”
Housed in an irregularly curved building in Darling Harbour’s skyline, W Sydney will also feature 585 rooms and suites, a gym, and a heated, 30-metre infinity pool inland overlooking Darling Harbour.
The two-level bar, called 29/30, will be open to the public and will serve wine, cocktails, and a Basque-inspired tapas menu. The bar’s upper tier, on level 30, will have yacht-inspired interiors and a menu of elevated cocktails and vintage Champagnes including Dom Pérignon, Ruinart, and Krug.
The second bar in the property is the Living Room, but, for a more substantial feed, guests or outside patrons can book at the hotel’s restaurant BTWN.
Bookings for W Sydney Away Spa will be open from October 3 onwards.
