Zac Efron has been spotted in Los Angeles, alive and hopefully well, after reports stated that he contracted a life-threatening virus while in Papua New Guinea filming his new show, Killing Zac Efron.
The Sunday Telegraph broke the story, reporting that Zefron was medevacced like an unlucky Survivor contestant after contracting “a form of typhoid or similar bacterial infection”.
After receiving treatment at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital in Spring Hill near Brisbane, the actor was allowed to return home to LA on Christmas Eve once his life-threatening illness had been treated.
Upon returning to LA, Zac was snapped at a Vejo pop up shop event.
The show that Zac Efron was filming, Killing Zac Efron, involves the actor being left in a “remote” location, “with nothing but basic gear, a guide partner, and a will to survive,” according to the E! News press release on the reality series. Essentially, a one-man, celebrity version of Survivor.
“I tend to thrive under extreme circumstances and seek out opportunities that challenge me on every level,” Zefron said in a statement when the show was announced. “I am excited to explore any uncharted territory and discover what unexpected adventure awaits.”
The actor has yet to publicly comment on the reported health crisis, but hopefully he’s fully recovered and thriving under less extreme circumstances.
