Since publishing this story, Network Ten has announced the death of MasterChef Australia judge Jock Zonfrillo on April 30, 2023. MasterChef Australia Secrets and Surprises will now premiere on Sunday, May 7, with the full support of Zonfrillo’s family.
MasterChef Australia: Secrets and Surprises is here, so we’re spending some time getting to know all the new contestants. That’s right! It’s time to put faces to the names of the MasterChef Australia 2023 cast.
One of the contestants competing on MasterChef Australia: Secrets and Surprises this year is Cath Collins, a 54-year-old administration manager from Victoria. Now, Cath is ready to chase her dreams and take the culinary world by storm.
Cath’s Journey to MasterChef Australia 2023
As a self-taught cook with a love of all types of food and over 100 cookbooks, Cath has always had a passion for cooking. Inspired by Julie Goodwin‘s return to MasterChef Australia last year, Cath is ready to apply to the competition and show off her skills.
Growing up in a big Aussie family with 10 children, Cath’s mealtimes were always a boisterous scene, but her mum always served up tasty meals, even on a tight budget. As a proud mum of two daughters, Cath was inspired to step up her cooking game to make delicious food that nourished, engaged, and excited her family.
With a love of European cuisines, Cath draws inspiration from her travels and eating out. During COVID lockdowns, she kept her family connected with far-flung destinations from her home kitchen, staging themed dinners from around the world.
Although she has worked in the travel industry and achieved vocational teaching qualifications, Cath’s passion has always been cooking.
She is now working alongside her husband in their family construction business but is ready to chase her dreams of launching a café serving high tea and staging cooking classes for school-aged children, young adults, and tailored adult classes.

Cath’s Hobbies, Interests, and Foodie Heroes
In her spare time, Cath enjoys music, art, and outdoor activities like running, walking, and hiking. With her life experience, good humour, and a healthy dose of tenacity, Cath is ready to rise to the challenge and pursue her passion for cooking.
She joins the MasterChef competition armed with inspiration from her many food idols, including Jamie Oliver, Rick Stein, Maggie Beer, Massimo Bottura, and Yotam Ottolenghi.
But will Cath be our next MasterChef Australia champion? Only time will tell…
MasterChef Australia: Secrets and Surprises premieres Sunday, May 7 at 7.30pm, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
